Chapter 114: Ayodhyā’s loss of Splendor

सफेना सस्वना भूत्वा सागरस्य समुत्थिताम्।
प्रशान्तमारुतोद्भूतां जलोर्मिमिव निःस्वनाम्॥
saphenā sasvanā bhūtvā sāgarasya samutthitām
praśānta-mārutodbhūtāṁ jalormim iva niḥsvanām
saphenā sasvanā bhūtvā = with foam and noise; sāgarasya = of an ocean; samutthitām = which had arisen; praśānta-māruta-udbhūtām = because of peaceful winds; jala-ūrmim = the watery waves; iva = Ayodhyā resembled; niḥsvanām = and which had then become silent.
Ayodhyā resembled the watery waves of an ocean which had arisen with foam and noise and which had then become silent because of peaceful winds.
