Chapter 114: Ayodhyā’s loss of Splendor

विपुलां विततां चैव युक्तपाशां तरस्विनाम्।
भूमौ बाणैर्विनिष्कृत्तां पतितां ज्यामिवायुधात्॥
vipulāṁ vitatāṁ caiva yukta-pāśāṁ tarasvinām
bhūmau bāṇair viniṣkṛttāṁ patitāṁ jyām ivāyudhāt
vipulām = a long; vitatām ca eva = bowstring; yukta-pāśām = that had been strung to a bow; tarasvinām = of heroic archers; bhūmau = onto the ground; bāṇaiḥ = by the arrows; viniṣkṛttām = cut; patitām = and which had been thrown; jyām = bowstring; iva = Ayodhyā resembled; āyudhāt = off the bow.
Ayodhyā resembled a long bowstring that had been strung to a bow, cut by the arrows of heroic archers and thrown off the bow onto the ground.
