Chapter 114: Ayodhyā’s loss of Splendor
Text 2.114.15

वृक्णभूमितलां निम्नां वृक्णपात्रैः समावृताम्।
उपयुक्तोदकां भग्नां प्रपां निपतितामिव॥

vṛkṇa-bhūmi-talāṁ nimnāṁ vṛkṇa-pātraiḥ samāvṛtām
upayuktodakāṁ bhagnāṁ prapāṁ nipatitām iva

vṛkṇa-bhūmi-talām = the city had broken areas of land; nimnām = low; vṛkṇa-pātraiḥ = with broken leaves; samāvṛtām = that were filled; upayukta-udakām = whose water had been used up; bhagnām = a broken; prapām = water tank; nipatitām = and which had been sunk into the ground; iva = Ayodhyā resembled.

The city had broken areas of low land that were filled with broken leaves. Ayodhyā resembled a broken water tank whose water had been used up and which had sunk into the ground.
