Chapter 115: Bharata Goes to Nandigrāma
Text 2.115.20
राघवाय च संन्यासं दत्त्वेमे वरपादुके।
राज्यं चेदमयोध्यां च धूतपापो भवामि च॥
rāghavāya ca sannyāsaṁ dattveme vara-pāduke
rājyaṁ cedam ayodhyāṁ ca dhūta-pāpo bhavāmi ca
rāghavāya ca = to Rāghava; sannyāsam = that He had deposited with Me; dattvā = after I return; ime = these; vara-pāduke = excellent sandals; rājyam ca = kingdom; idam = the; ayodhyām = Ayodhyā; ca = and; dhūta-pāpaḥ = free from sins; bhavāmi ca = I will become.
I will become free from sins after I return these excellent sandals, the kingdom that He had deposited with Me and Ayodhyā to Rāghava.
The “sins” here refer to Bharata’s infamy caused by Kaikeyī.
