Chapter 116: The Sages Depart from Citrakūṭa
Text 2.116.8
अथर्षिर्जरया वृद्धस्तपसा च जरां गतः।
वेपमान इवोवाच रामं भूतदयापरम्॥
atha rṣir jarayā vṛddhas tapasā ca jarāṁ gataḥ
vepamāna ivovāca rāmaṁ bhūta-dayā-param
atha = then; ṛṣiḥ = a sage; jarayā vṛddhaḥ = who had grown old; tapasā ca jarām gataḥ = and who had performed penance for a long time; vepamānaḥ iva = as though trembling; uvāca = spoke; rāmam = to Rāma; bhūta-dayā-param = who was filled with compassion upon all creatures.
Then a sage who had grown old and who had performed penance for a long time, as though trembling, spoke to Rāma who was filled with compassion upon all creatures.
