Chapter 116: The Sages Depart from Citrakūṭa
Text 2.116.17
apakṣipanti srug-bhāṇḍān agnīn siñcanti vāriṇā
kalaśāṁś ca pramardanti havane samupasthite
apakṣipanti = they throw; sruk-bhāṇḍān = the sacrificial implements such as the sruk; agnīn = into the sacred fires; siñcanti = pour; vāriṇā = water; kalaśān = the pots; ca = and; pramardanti = break; havane = when the homa rituals; samupasthite = begin.
They throw the sacrificial implements such as the sruk, pour water into the sacred fires and break the pots when the homa rituals begin.1

GLOSS. [The glossator reads avakṣipanty asṛg-bhāṇḍāny agnīn instead of apakṣipanti srug-bhāṇḍān agnīn indicating that] they threw down pots filled with blood.
