Canto 2 -
Ayodhyā-kāṇḍa
Chapter 116: The Sages Depart from Citrakūṭa
Text 2.116.22
सकलत्रस्य संदेहो नित्यं यत्तस्य राघव।
समर्थस्यापि वसतो वासो दुःखमिहाद्य ते॥
sakalatrasya sandeho nityaṁ yattasya rāghava
samarthasyāpi vasato vāso duḥkham ihādya te
sakalatrasya = with His wife; sandehaḥ = a doubt; nityam = because there is always; yattasya = and prepared; rāghava = O descendant of Raghu; samarthasya api = though You are competent; vasataḥ = about one who lives; vāsaḥ = residence; duḥkham = will be miserable; iha = here; adya = now; te = Your.
O descendant of Raghu, Your residence here will be miserable now though You are competent and prepared because there is always a doubt about one who lives with His wife.
Rāghava, though You are always capable and prepared [to deal with any such attack], Your residence here with Your wife now raises doubts [about Your safety and so] is a cause for distress.
