Chapter 117: Anasūyā Instructs Sītā About Strī-dharma
Text 2.117.20
ततः सीतां महाभागां दृष्ट्वा तां धर्मचारिणी।
सान्त्वयन्त्यब्रवीद्धृष्टा दिष्ट्या धर्ममवेक्षसे॥
tataḥ sītāṁ mahā-bhāgāṁ dṛṣṭvā tāṁ dharmacāriṇī
sāntvayanty abravīd dhṛṣṭā diṣṭyā dharmam avekṣase
tataḥ sītām = Sītā; mahā-bhāgām = of great fortune; dṛṣṭvā = upon seeing; tām = to her; dharmacāriṇī = Anasūyā devoted to dharma; sāntvayanti = these comforting words; abravīt = and spoke; hṛṣṭā = became happy; diṣṭyā = by good fortune; dharmam = your dharma of being chaste to your husband; avekṣase = you are attentively observing.
Upon seeing Sītā of great fortune, Anasūyā devoted to dharma became happy and spoke these comforting words to her: “By good fortune, you are attentively observing your dharma of being chaste to your husband.
