Chapter 118: Conversation Between Sītā and Anasūyā
Text 2.118.8
पाणिप्रदानकाले च यत्पुरा त्वग्निसंनिधौ।
अनुशिष्टा जनन्यास्मि वाक्यं तदपि मे धृतम्॥
pāṇi-pradāna-kāle ca yat purā tv agni-sannidhau
anuśiṣṭā jananyāsmi vākyaṁ tad api me dhṛtam
pāṇi-pradāna-kāle ca = at the time my hand was bestowed [to my husband]; yat = the; purā tu = in the past; agni-sannidhau = in the presence of the sacred fire; anuśiṣṭā = imparted; jananyā = by my mother; asmi = to me; vākyam = instruction; tat api = also; me = I have; dhṛtam = preserved [in my heart].
I have also preserved [in my heart] the instruction imparted to me by my mother in the past, at the time my hand was bestowed [to my husband] in the presence of the sacred fire.
