सावित्री पतिशुश्रूषां कृत्वा स्वर्गे महीयते।
तथावृत्तिश्च याता त्वं पतिशुश्रूषया दिवम्॥
sāvitrī pati-śuśrūṣāṁ kṛtvā svarge mahīyate
tathā-vṛttiś ca yātā tvaṁ pati-śuśrūṣayā divam
sāvitrī = Sāvitrī is [now]; pati-śuśrūṣām = served her husband; kṛtvā = having; svarge = in Svarga; mahīyate = honored; tathā-vṛttiḥ = [because] you have conducted yourself similarly; ca = also; yātā = will attain; tvam = you; pati-śuśrūṣayā = through your service to your husband; divam = the heavens.
Having served her husband, Sāvitrī is [now] honored in Svarga. You will also attain the heavens through your service to your husband [because] you have conducted yourself similarly.1
1 Sītā-devī notes this despite the fact that Anasūyā’s body in her current condition is old, wrinkled and so on as noted in the previous chapter because practitioners of dharma are not disoriented by their current bodily situation. In fact, Anasūyā-devī’s bodily austerities are genuinely appreciated by Śrī Vālmīki, Atri Ṛṣi, Lord Rāmacandra and Sītā-devī.
Sītā-devī says, “You will also attain the heavens” because by the glorious austerity of being fully chaste, attainment of Svarga becomes as easy as anything.
