Chapter 118: Conversation Between Sītā and Anasūyā
Text 2.118.30

अनपत्येन च स्नेहादङ्कमारोप्य च स्वयम्।
ममेयं तनयेत्युक्ता स्नेहो मयि निपातितः॥

anapatyena ca snehād aṅkam āropya ca svayam
mameyaṁ tanayety uktvā sneho mayi nipātitaḥ

anapatyena ca = being childless; snehāt = out of affection; aṅkam āropya ca svayam = he took me on his own lap; mama = my; iyam = this girl is; tanayā iti = daughter [from now]; uktvā = and said; snehaḥ = affection; mayi = upon me; nipātitaḥ = and he began to shower.

Being childless, he took me on his own lap out of affection and said, “This girl is my daughter [from now]” and he began to shower affection upon me.
