Chapter 118: Conversation Between Sītā and Anasūyā
Text 2.118.40
असंचाल्यं मनुष्यैश्च यत्नेनापि च गौरवात्।
तन्न शक्ता नमयितुं स्वप्नेष्वपि नराधिपाः॥
asañcālyaṁ manuṣyaiś ca yatnenāpi ca gauravāt
tan na śaktā namayituṁ svapneṣv api narādhipāḥ
asañcālyam = could not even move it; manuṣyaiḥ ca = human beings; yatnena api ca = despite their efforts; gauravāt = because of its weight; tat = it; na śaktāḥ = incapable; namayitum = of bending; svapneṣu api = even in their dreams; nara-adhipāḥ = the kings were.
Because of its weight, human beings could not even move it despite their efforts. The kings were incapable of bending it even in their dreams.
