Chapter 119: Rāma Departs to Daṇḍakāraṇya
Text 2.119.7
रजनीचरसत्त्वानि प्रचरन्ति समन्ततः॥
तपोवनमृगा ह्येते वेदितीर्थेषु शेरते।।७।।
rajanī-cara-sattvāni pracaranti samantataḥ
tapo-vana-mṛgā hy ete vedi-tīrtheṣu śerate
rajanī-cara-sattvāni = creatures moving in the night; pracaranti = are now wandering; samantataḥ = all around; tapo-vana-mṛgāḥ hi = deer in the forest for austerities; ete = these; vedi-tīrtheṣu = on the steps descending from the sacrificial pavilions 2; śerate = are sleeping.
Creatures moving in the night are now wandering all around. These deer in the forest for austerities are sleeping on the steps descending from the sacrificial pavilions.1
1 Anasūyā-devī is talking about deer in the tapovana, the forest for austerities.
