Chapter 3: Virādha Carries Rāma and Lakṣmaṇa
Text 3.3.26
तावारोप्य ततः स्कन्धं राघवौ रजनीचरः।
विराधो निनदन्घोरं जगामाभिमुखो वनम्॥
tāv āropya tataḥ skandhaṁ rāghavau rajanīcaraḥ
virādho ninadan ghoraṁ jagāmābhimukho vanam
tau = the; āropya tataḥ = took; skandham = on his shoulders; rāghavau = descendants of Raghu; rajanīcaraḥ = the rākṣasa; virādhaḥ = Virādha; ninadan ghoram = screeching all the while; jagāma = and proceeded; abhimukhaḥ = towards; vanam = [the middle of] the forest.
The rākṣasa Virādha took the descendants of Raghu on his shoulders and proceeded towards [the middle of] the forest, screeching all the while.
