Canto 3 -
Araṇya-kāṇḍa
Chapter 5: Rāma Meets Sage Śarabhaṅga
Text 3.5.41

रामस्तु विस्मितो भ्रात्रा भार्यया च सहात्मवान्॥

rāmas tu vismito bhrātrā bhāryayā ca sahātmavān

rāmaḥ tu = Rāma; vismitaḥ = became astonished; bhrātrā = His brother; bhāryayā = wife; ca saha = and; ātmavān = self-controlled.

Self-controlled Rāma, His brother and wife became astonished.

From the next verse, it is pointed out that Sage Śarabhaṅga attained the spiritual world through the devayāna pathway.1

1 The devayāna pathway is a standard pathway to go to Vaikuṇṭha. The details are noted by the great Vaiṣṇava ācāryas in their commentaries to the fourth chapter of the Vedānta-sūtra. This pathway is contrasted with the pitṛyāṇa pathway, a route to Pitṛloka. Pariniṣṭhitas attain Vaikuṇṭha, after giving up their bodies, through the devayāna pathway.
