Chapter 6: The Sages Inform Rāma About the Rākṣasas Torturing Them
Text 3.6.8
त्वमिक्ष्वाकुकुलस्यास्य पृथिव्याश्च महारथ।
प्रधानश्वासि नाथश्च देवानां मघवानिव॥
tvam ikṣvāku-kulasyāsya pṛthivyāś ca mahā-ratha
pradhānaś cāsi nāthaś ca devānāṁ maghavān iva
tvam = You; ikṣvāku-kulasya = Ikṣvāku dynasty; asya = of the; pṛthivyāḥ ca = of the earth; mahā-ratha = O great chariot-fighter; pradhānaḥ ca = the chief; asi = are; nāthaḥ = the lord; ca = [You are] also; devānām = [is the chief] of the devas; maghavān = Indra; iva = just as.
O great chariot-fighter, just as Indra [is the chief] of the devas, You are the chief of the Ikṣvāku dynasty. [You are] also the lord of the earth.
Just as Devendra (“King of the devas”) is a name of Indra, Raghupati (“Chief of the Raghus”) is a name of Lord Rāma.
