Chapter 11: Rāma Goes to Agastya’s Āśrama
Text 3.11.6

पद्मपुष्करसंबाधं गजयूथैरलङ्कृतम्।
सारसैर्हंसकादम्बैः सङ्कुलं जलचारिभिः॥

padma-puṣkara-sambādhaṁ gaja-yūthair alaṅkṛtam
sārasair haṁsa-kādambaiḥ saṅkulaṁ jalacāribhiḥ

padma-puṣkara-sambādham = it was crowded with [red] lotuses and snakes 1; gaja-yūthaiḥ = with herds of elephants; alaṅkṛtam = was decorated; sārasaiḥ = blue lotuses 2; haṁsa-kādambaiḥ = rājahaṁsa and kalahaṁsa swans 3; saṅkulam = and was filled with; jalacāribhiḥ = sporting in the water.

It was crowded with [red] lotuses and snakes, was decorated with herds of elephants, and was filled with blue lotuses, rājahaṁsa and kalahaṁsa swans sporting in the water.1

GLOSS. Birds trampled upon the lotuses.1 [The glossator reads jala-jātibhiḥ instead of jalacāribhiḥ indicating that] it was filled with fish and other aquatic creatures.
