Chapter 11: Rāma Goes to Agastya’s Āśrama
Text 3.11.68
सोऽभिद्रवन्मुनिश्रेष्ठं मुनिना दीप्ततेजसा।
चक्षुषानलकल्पेन निर्दग्धो निधनं गतः॥
so ’bhidravan muni-śreṣṭhaṁ muninā dīpta-tejasā
cakṣuṣānala-kalpena nirdagdho nidhanaṁ gataḥ
saḥ = Ilvala; abhidravat = rushed toward; muni-śreṣṭham = the excellent sage; muninā = the sage; dīpta-tejasā = who possessed blazing prowess; cakṣuṣā = through his glance; anala-kalpena = firelike; nirdagdhaḥ = burnt him; nidhanam gataḥ = and destroyed him.
Ilvala rushed toward the excellent sage, [but] the sage who possessed blazing prowess burnt him through his firelike glance and destroyed him.
