Chapter 12: Agastya Requests Rāma to Protect the Sages

ते वयं वनमत्युग्रं प्रविष्टाः पितृशासनात्।
द्रष्टुमिच्छामहे सर्वे भगवन्तं निवेद्यताम्॥
te vayaṁ vanam atyugraṁ praviṣṭāḥ pitṛ-śāsanāt
draṣṭum icchāmahe sarve bhagavantaṁ nivedyatām
te vayam = we; vanam = forest; atyugram = the very terrible; praviṣṭāḥ = have entered; pitṛ-śāsanāt = on the order of our father; draṣṭum = to see; icchāmahe = wish; sarve = all of us; bhagavantam = the powerful sage; nivedyatām = please inform him of our desire.
The letter ya in vayam is the eighth letter of the gāyatrī. We have crossed 7,000 verses.
We have entered the very terrible forest on the order of our father. All of us wish to see the powerful sage. Please inform him of our desire.
