Chapter 12: Agastya Requests Rāma to Protect the Sages
Text 3.12.5
तस्य तद्वचनं श्रुत्वा लक्ष्मणस्य तपोधनः।
तथेत्युक्त्वाग्निशरणं प्रविवेश निवेदितुम्॥
tasya tad vacanaṁ śrutvā lakṣmaṇasya tapo-dhanaḥ
tathety uktvāgni-śaraṇaṁ praviveśa niveditum
tasya1 tat = the; vacanam = words; śrutvā = upon hearing; lakṣmaṇasya = of Lakṣmaṇa; tapaḥ-dhanaḥ = that ascetic rich in austerity; tathā iti = alright; uktvā = said; agni-śaraṇam = the sacrificial arena; praviveśa = and entered; niveditum = to inform [the sage].
Upon hearing the words of Lakṣmaṇa, that ascetic rich in austerity said, “Alright,” and entered the sacrificial arena to inform [the sage].1
