Chapter 12: Agastya Requests Rāma to Protect the Sages
Text 3.12.25

प्रतिजग्राह काकुत्स्थमर्चयित्वासनोदकैः।
कुशलप्रश्नमुक्त्वा च ह्यास्यतामिति चाब्रवीत्॥

pratijagrāha kākutstham arcayitvāsanodakaiḥ
kuśala-praśnam uktvā ca hy āsyatām iti cābravīt

pratijagrāha = Agastya accepted as his guest; kākutstham = the descendant of Kakutstha; arcayitvā = honoring [Him]; āsana-udakaiḥ = with a seat and water for washing His feet; kuśala-praśnam uktvā ca hi = he asked about His welfare; āsyatām iti = please sit; ca = and; abravīt = told Him.

Agastya accepted the descendant of Kakutstha as his guest. Honoring [Him] with a seat and water for washing His feet, he asked about His welfare and told Him, “Please sit.”
