Chapter 12: Agastya Requests Rāma to Protect the Sages
Text 3.12.65
केवलं त्वभिशापेन तस्यैव रघुनन्दन।
सोपद्रुतमिवाप्येतद्राक्षसैरुग्रकर्मभिः॥
kevalaṁ tv abhiśāpena tasyaiva raghu-nandana
sopadrutam ivāpy etad rākṣasair ugra-karmabhiḥ
kevalam tu = it was only; abhiśāpena tasya eva = due to his curse; raghu-nandana = O beloved child of the Raghus; sa-upadrutam iva = appeared to be disturbed; api etat = that this forest; rākṣasaiḥ = by rākṣasas; ugra-karmabhiḥ = who engage in terrible acts.
O beloved child of the Raghus, it was only due to his curse that this forest appeared to be disturbed by rākṣasas who engage in terrible acts.1
