Canto 3 -
Araṇya-kāṇḍa
Chapter 12: Agastya Requests Rāma to Protect the Sages
Text 3.12.68
समर्थो ह्यसि काकुत्स्थ त्रैलोक्यस्यापि रक्षणे।
किंपुनर्वीर रक्षांसि द्विजमन्युहतानि वै॥
samartho hy asi kākutstha trailokyasyāpi rakṣaṇe
kiṁ punar vīra rakṣāṁsi dvija-manyu-hatāni vai
samarthaḥ = competent; hi = certainly; asi = You are; kākutstha = descendant of Kakutstha; trailokyasya = the three worlds; api = even; rakṣaṇe = to protect; kim punaḥ = what to speak of; vīra = O heroic; rakṣāṁsi = rākṣasas; dvija-manyu-hatāni vai = destroyed by the anger of the twice-born.
O heroic descendant of Kakutstha, You are certainly competent to protect even the three worlds, what to speak of rākṣasas destroyed by the anger of the twice-born?1
1 The anger of genuine brāhmaṇas is itself the seed of destruction for those who cause them to become angry.
