Chapter 13: Rāma Departs for Pañcavaṭī
Text 3.13.2
अध्वश्रमेण वां खेदो बाधते प्रचुरश्रमः।
व्यक्तमुत्कण्ठते चापि मैथिली जनकात्मजा॥
adhva-śrameṇa vāṁ khedo bādhate pracura-śramaḥ
vyaktam utkaṇṭhate cāpi maithilī janakātmajā
adhva-śrameṇa = are tired because of the long route [You have taken to come here]; vām = both of You; khedaḥ = by distress; bādhate = You are troubled; pracura-śramaḥ = and You are extremely exhausted; vyaktam = obviously; utkaṇṭhate = hankers to rest; ca api = also; maithilī = Maithilī; janaka-ātmajā = Janaka’s daughter.
Both of You are tired because of the long route [You have taken to come here]. Obviously You are troubled by distress and You are extremely exhausted. Janaka’s daughter also hankers to rest.
This is an indication that Maithilī was extremely tired. Because of her extreme exhaustion, she was sweating. The sage refers to her as Janaka’s daughter to point out that she was very tender.
