Chapter 14: Śrī Rāma Meets Jaṭāyu
Text 3.14.15
दितिस्त्वजनयत्पुत्रान्दैत्यांस्तात यशस्विनः।
तेषामियं वसुमती पुरासीत्सवनार्णवा॥
ditis tv ajanayat putrān daityāṁs tāta yaśasvinaḥ
teṣām iyaṁ vasumatī purāsīt savanārṇavā
ditiḥ tu = Diti; ajanayat = gave birth; putrān = sons; daityān = the daityas; tāta = dear child; yaśasvinaḥ = to her famous; teṣām = belonged to these sons of Diti; iyam = this; vasumatī = earth; purā āsīt = formerly; sa-vana-arṇavā = with its forests and oceans.
Dear child, Diti gave birth to her famous sons, the daityas. This earth with its forests and oceans formerly belonged to these sons of Diti.
