Chapter 19: Khara Sends Fourteen Rākṣasas to Destroy Rāma
Text 3.19.23
तौ हत्वा तां च दुर्वृत्तामपावर्तितुमर्हथ।
इयं च रुधिरं तेषां भगिनी मम पास्यति॥
tau hatvā tāṁ ca durvṛttām apāvartitum arhatha
iyaṁ ca rudhiraṁ teṣāṁ bhaginī mama pāsyati
tau = both of Them; hatvā = kill; tām = that; ca = and; durvṛttām = woman of evil conduct; apāvartitum = bring [all of them here so that]; arhatha = you should; iyam ca = this; rudhiram = blood; teṣām = their; bhaginī = sister; mama = of mine; pāsyati = can drink.
Kill both of Them and that woman of evil conduct. You should bring [all of them here so that] this sister of mine can drink their blood.
Khara claims that Sītā-devī was a woman of bad conduct because according to him, she was the root cause of his sister’s deformation.
