Chapter 20: Rāma Kills the Fourteen Rākṣasas
Text 3.20.1
ततः शूर्पणखा घोरा राघवाश्रममागता।
रक्षसामाचचक्षे तौ भ्रातरौ सह सीतया॥
tataḥ śūrpaṇakhā ghorā rāghavāśramam āgatā
rakṣasām ācacakṣe tau bhrātarau saha sītayā
tataḥ = then; śūrpaṇakhā = Śūrpaṇakhā; ghorā = the fierce; rāghava-āśramam = to Rāghava’s āśrama; āgatā = came; rakṣasām = the rākṣasas; ācacakṣe = and informed; tau = about the two; bhrātarau = brothers; saha = and; sītayā = Sītā.
Then the fierce Śūrpaṇakhā came to Rāghava’s āśrama and informed the rākṣasas about the two brothers and Sītā.
This chapter describes the destruction of the fourteen rākṣasas.
