Chapter 24: Lord Rāma Prepares to Fight With Khara’s Army
Text 3.24.18

स चापमुद्यम्य महच्छरानादाय वीर्यवान्।
बभूवावस्थितस्तत्र ज्यास्वनैः पूरयन्दिशः॥

sa cāpam udyamya mahac charān ādāya vīryavān
babhūvāvasthitas tatra jyā-svanaiḥ pūrayan diśaḥ

saḥ = He; cāpam = bow; udyamya = lifted; mahat = His great; śarān = His arrows; ādāya = took; vīryavān = filled with prowess; babhūva avasthitaḥ = and stood; tatra = there; jyā-svanaiḥ = with the twangs of His bowstring; pūrayan = while filling; diśaḥ = the directions.

Full of prowess, He lifted His great bow, took His arrows and stood there while filling the directions with the twangs of His bowstring.1

1 “Filling the directions with the twangs of His bowstring” means “the directions resounded with the twangs of His bowstring.”
