तत्कार्मुकैराभरणैर्ध्वजैश्च तैर्वर्मभिश्चाग्निसमानवर्णैः।
बभूव सैन्यं पिशिताशनानां सूर्योदये नीलमिवाभ्रवृन्दम्॥
tat-kārmukair ābharaṇair dhvajaiś ca
tair varmabhiś cāgni-samāna-varṇaiḥ
babhūva sainyaṁ piśitāśanānāṁ
sūryodaye nīlam ivābhra-vṛndam
tat-kārmukaiḥ = with their bows; ābharaṇaiḥ = ornaments; dhvajaiḥ ca = flags; taiḥ varmabhiḥ = armors; ca = and; agni-samāna-varṇaiḥ = that had the color of fire; babhūva = became; sainyam = the army; piśita-aśanānām = of the meat-eaters; sūrya-udaye = at sunrise; nīlam = blue; iva = like; abhra-vṛndam = a mass of clouds.
With their bows, ornaments, flags, and armors that had the color of fire, the army of the meat-eaters became blue like a mass of clouds at sunrise.

The armors were like sunrays. The rākṣasas with their bows and flags were like blue clouds.1
