Canto 3 -
Araṇya-kāṇḍa
Chapter 24: Lord Rāma Prepares to Fight With Khara’s Army
Text 3.24.36
आविष्टं तेजसा रामं संग्रामशिरसि स्थितम्।
दृष्ट्वा सर्वाणि भूतानि भयार्तानि प्रदुद्रुवुः॥
āviṣṭaṁ tejasā rāmaṁ saṅgrāma-śirasi sthitam
dṛṣṭvā sarvāṇi bhūtāni bhayārtāni pradudruvuḥ
āviṣṭam = and endowed; tejasā = with prowess; rāmam = Rāma; saṅgrāma-śirasi = at the forefront of a war; sthitam = standing; dṛṣṭvā = upon seeing; sarvāṇi = all; bhūtāni = the creatures; bhaya-ārtāni = became afflicted by fear; pradudruvuḥ = and fled away.
Upon seeing Rāma standing at the forefront of a war and endowed with prowess, all the creatures became afflicted by fear and fled away.1
1 Text 34 stated that the forest deities fled. This verse describes that all creatures became terrified by seeing Rāma and fled away. There is no redundancy here.
