Chapter 26: Rāmacandra Destroys Dūṣaṇa and his Followers
Text 3.26.9
स च्छिन्नधन्वा विरथो हताश्वो हतसारथिः।
जग्राह गिरिशृङ्गाभं परिघं रोमहर्षणम्॥
sa cchinna-dhanvā viratho hatāśvo hata-sārathiḥ
jagrāha giri-śṛṅgābhaṁ parighaṁ roma-harṣaṇam
saḥ = he; chinna-dhanvā = when his bow cut; virathaḥ = and he was without a chariot; hata-aśvaḥ hata-sārathiḥ = his horse and charioteer were slain; jagrāha = grabbed; giri-śṛṅga-ābham = it had the color of a mountain top; parigham = his mace; roma-harṣaṇam = and it made [the onlooker’s] hair stand on end.
When his bow was cut, his horse and charioteer were slain and he was without a chariot, he grabbed his mace. It had the color of a mountain top and it made [the onlooker’s] hair stand on end.
