Chapter 27: Rāma Kills Triśirā
Text 3.27.15
अष्टभिः सायकैः सूतं रथोपस्थे न्यपातयत्।
रामश्चिच्छेद बाणेन ध्वजं चास्य समुच्छ्रितम्॥
aṣṭabhiḥ sāyakaiḥ sūtaṁ rathopasthe nyapātayat
rāmaś ciccheda bāṇena dhvajaṁ cāsya samucchritam
aṣṭabhiḥ = with eight; sāyakaiḥ = arrows; sūtam = Triśirā’s charioteer; ratha-upasthe = standing on the chariot; nyapātayat = threw; rāmaḥ = Rāma; ciccheda = cut; bāṇena = with an arrow; dhvajam = flagpost; ca = and; asya = his; samucchritam = tall.
Rāma felled Triśirā’s charioteer, who was standing on the chariot, with eight arrows and cut his tall flagpost with an arrow.
