Chapter 28: Śrī Rāma Attacks Khara
Text 3.28.4
विकृष्य बलवच्चापं नाराचान्रक्तभोजनान्।
खरश्चिक्षेप रामाय क्रुद्धानाशीविषानिव॥
vikṛṣya balavac cāpaṁ nārācān rakta-bhojanān
kharaś cikṣepa rāmāya kruddhān āśī-viṣān iva
vikṛṣya = stretched; balavat = his strong; cāpam = bow; nārācān = iron arrows 1; rakta-bhojanān = blood-thirsty; kharaḥ = Khara; cikṣepa = and released; rāmāya = at Rāma; kruddhān = angry; āśī-viṣān = poisonous snakes; iva = which resembled.
Khara stretched his strong bow and released blood-thirsty iron arrows at Rāma which resembled angry poisonous snakes.
“Blood-thirsty arrows” are arrows stained with blood.
