Chapter 28: Śrī Rāma Attacks Khara
Text 3.28.17
ततस्तत्प्रहतं बाणैः खरमुक्तैः सुपर्वभिः।
पपात कवचं भूमौ रामस्यादित्यवर्चसः॥
tatas tat prahataṁ bāṇaiḥ khara-muktaiḥ suparvabhiḥ
papāta kavacaṁ bhūmau rāmasyāditya-varcasaḥ
tataḥ1 tat = the; prahatam = destroyed; bāṇaiḥ = arrows; khara-muktaiḥ = released by Khara; suparvabhiḥ = by the nicely conjoined; papāta = fell; kavacam = armor; bhūmau = on the ground; rāmasya = of Śrī Rāmacandra; āditya-varcasaḥ = who was as brilliant as the sun.
Destroyed by the nicely conjoined arrows released by Khara, the armor of Śrī Rāmacandra, who was as brilliant as the sun, fell on the ground.
Āditya-varcasaḥ indicates that Rāma exhibited a unique brilliance like that of the sun after His armor fell [on to the ground].1
