Chapter 28: Śrī Rāma Attacks Khara
Text 3.28.27
शिरस्येकेन बाणेन द्वाभ्यां बाह्वोरथार्दयत्।
त्रिभिश्चन्द्रार्धवक्त्रैश्च वक्षस्यभिजघान ह॥
śirasy ekena bāṇena dvābhyāṁ bāhvor athārdayat
tribhiś candrārdha-vaktraiś ca vakṣasy abhijaghāna ha
śirasi = at [Khara’s] head; ekena = one; bāṇena = arrow; dvābhyām = two; bāhvoḥ atha = at his arms; ardayat = He shot; tribhiḥ = three; candra-ardha-vaktraiḥ = arrows with crescent-shaped heads; ca = and; vakṣasi = at his chest; abhijaghāna ha = shot.
He shot one arrow at [Khara’s] head, two at his arms and shot three arrows with crescent-shaped heads at his chest.
He shot one arrow at each of Khara’s arms.
