Chapter 28: Śrī Rāma Attacks Khara
Text 3.28.30
त्रिभिस्त्रिवेणुं बलवान्द्वाभ्यामक्षं महाबलः।
द्वादशेन तु बाणेन खरस्य सशरं धनुः॥
tribhis triveṇuṁ balavān dvābhyām akṣaṁ mahā-balaḥ
dvādaśena tu bāṇena kharasya saśaraṁ dhanuḥ
tribhiḥ = with three [arrows]; triveṇum = [broke] the stick supporting the yoke [of Khara’s chariot]; balavān = the strong [warrior]; dvābhyām = with two [arrows]; akṣam = [broke his] axle; mahā-balaḥ = [Rāma] of great strength; dvādaśena tu = [and] with the twelfth; bāṇena = arrow; kharasya = Khara’s; sa-śaram = and arrow; dhanuḥ = [He broke] bow.
With three [arrows] the strong [warrior] [broke] the stick supporting the yoke [of Khara’s chariot]. With two [arrows] [Rāma] of great strength [broke his] axle [and] with the twelfth arrow, [He broke] Khara’s bow and arrow.
