Chapter 31: Rāvaṇa’s Conversation with Akampana and Mārīca
Text 3.31.24

सताराग्रहनक्षत्रं नभश्चाप्यवसादयेत्।
असौ रामस्तु मज्जन्तीं श्रीमानभ्युद्धरेन्महीम्॥

sa-tārā-graha-nakṣatraṁ nabhaś cāpy avasādayet
asau rāmas tu majjantīṁ śrīmān abhyuddharen mahīm

sa-tārā-graha-nakṣatram = with its nine grahas, twenty-seven nakṣatras and other luminaries; nabhaḥ ca = the sky; api = even; avasādayet = can shatter; asau = He; rāmaḥ tu = Rāma; majjantīm = when it sinks into an ocean; śrīmān = glorious; abhyuddharet = can lift up; mahīm = the earth.

He can even shatter the sky with its nine grahas, twenty-seven nakṣatras and other luminaries.1 Glorious Rāma can lift up the earth when it sinks into an ocean.

1 The nine grahas are heavenly bodies which influence human destiny: Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus, Saturn, Rāhu, Ketu, the sun and the moon.
