Canto 3 -
Araṇya-kāṇḍa
Chapter 33: Śūrpaṇakhā Criticizes Rāvaṇa
Text 3.33.13

ऋषीणामभयं दत्तं कृतक्षेमाश्च दण्डकाः।
धर्षितं च जनस्थानं रामेणाक्लिष्टकर्मणा॥

ṛṣīṇām abhayaṁ dattaṁ kṛta-kṣemāś ca daṇḍakāḥ
dharṣitaṁ ca janasthānaṁ rāmeṇākliṣṭa-karmaṇā

ṛṣīṇām = to the ṛṣis; abhayam = an assurance of safety; dattam = has granted; kṛta-kṣemāḥ ca = made habitable; daṇḍakāḥ = the forests in Daṇḍakāraṇya; dharṣitam = devastated; ca = and; janasthānam = Janasthāna; rāmeṇa = Rāma; akliṣṭa-karmaṇā = whose action is indefatigable.

Rāma whose action is indefatigable has granted an assurance of safety to the ṛṣis, made the forests in Daṇḍakāraṇya habitable and devastated Janasthāna.1

1 This mentality is typical of the rākṣasas: “Thousands of terrorists have been killed whereas peace-loving, world-friendly devotees of the One Supreme God have been allowed to live! Oh, what can be more outrageous than this?”
