Chapter 34: Rāvaṇa’s Conversation With Śūrpaṇakhā

हन्यमानं तु तत्सैन्यं पश्यामि शरवृष्टिभिः।
इन्द्रेणेवोत्तमं सस्यमाहतं त्वश्मवृष्टिभिः॥
hanyamānaṁ tu tat sainyaṁ paśyāmi śara-vṛṣṭibhiḥ
indreṇevottamaṁ sasyam āhataṁ tv aśma-vṛṣṭibhiḥ
hanyamānam tu = being destroyed; tat = the; sainyam = army [of rākṣasas]; paśyāmi = I [only] saw; śara-vṛṣṭibhiḥ = by a shower of arrows; indreṇa = by Indra; iva = just as; uttamam = excellent; sasyam = crops; āhatam tu = are destroyed; aśma-vṛṣṭibhiḥ = through showers of hailstones.
I [only] saw the army [of rākṣasas] being destroyed by a shower of arrows just as excellent crops are destroyed by Indra through showers of hailstones.
