रक्षसां भीमरूपाणां सहस्राणि चतुर्दश।
निहतानि शरैस्तीक्ष्णैस्तेनैकेन पदातिना॥
अर्धाधिकमुहूर्तेन खरश्च सहदूषणः।
ऋषीणामभयं दत्तं कृतक्षेमाश्च दण्डकाः॥

nihatāni śarais tīkṣṇais tenaikena padātinā
ardhādhika-muhūrtena kharaś ca saha-dūṣaṇaḥ

rakṣasām = rākṣasas; bhīma-rūpāṇām = who were terrible in appearance; sahasrāṇi = thousand; caturdaśa = fourteen; nihatāni = destroyed; śaraiḥ = arrows; tīkṣṇaiḥ = using sharp; tena = that; ekena = single; padātinā = foot soldier; ardha-adhika-muhūrtena = in one and a half muhūrtas; kharaḥ = Khara; ca = as well as; saha-dūṣaṇaḥ = and Dūṣaṇa; ṛṣīṇām = ṛṣis; abhayam = of safety; dattam = assured; kṛta-kṣemāḥ = made habitable; ca = and; daṇḍakāḥ = the Daṇḍakāraṇya forests.
That single foot soldier destroyed fourteen thousand rākṣasas who were terrible in appearance as well as Khara and Dūṣaṇa using sharp arrows in one and a half muhūrtas, assured ṛṣis of safety and made the Daṇḍakāraṇya forests habitable.
