रामस्य तु विशालाक्षी पूर्णेन्दुसदृशानना।
धर्मपत्नी प्रिया भर्तुर्नित्यं प्रियहिते रता॥
rāmasya tu viśālākṣī pūrṇendu-sadṛśānanā
dharma-patnī priyā bhartur nityaṁ priya-hite ratā
rāmasya = Rāma has; tu = but; viśāla-akṣī = her eyes are wide; pūrṇa-indu-sadṛśa-ānanā = her face is like the full moon; dharma-patnī = dharma-patnī; priyā = a beloved; bhartuḥ = her husband; nityam = always; priya-hite = in pleasing and benefitting; ratā = she is absorbed.
But Rāma has a beloved dharma-patnī. Her eyes are wide. Her face is like the full moon. She is always absorbed in pleasing and benefitting her husband.1
1 A dharma-patnī is a wife according to dharma and who always follows dharma. Priya-hite ratā (“she is absorbed in pleasing and benefitting”) indicates that these are the two facets of genuine affection.
