pitrā = father; nirastaḥ = has been exiled; kruddhena = by His angry; sa-bhāryaḥ = with His wife; kṣīṇa-jīvitaḥ = [and] He has no means of subsistence [now]; saḥ = He; hantā = is the slayer; tasya = of the; sainyasya = army; rāmaḥ = Rāma; kṣatriya-pāṁsanaḥ = a disgrace to the kṣatriya community.
Rāma, a disgrace to the kṣatriya community, has been exiled with His wife by His angry father [and] He has no means of subsistence [now].1 He is the slayer of the army.
GLOSS. Kṣīṇa-jīvitaḥ [which can also mean “His life has been diminished”] implies that [Rāvaṇa thought that] Rāma’s life will be diminished because it will last [only] until He meets Rāvaṇa.1
