Chapter 38: Mārīca Instructs Rāvaṇa
Text 3.38.21
पातितोऽहं तदा तेन गम्भीरे सागराम्भसि।
प्राप्य संज्ञां चिरात्तात लङ्कां प्रति गतः पुरीम्॥
pātito ’haṁ tadā tena gambhīre sāgarāmbhasi
prāpya saṁjñāṁ cirāt tāta laṅkāṁ prati gataḥ purīm
pātitaḥ = thrown; aham = I; tadā = at that time; tena = by Him; gambhīre = into the deep; sāgara-ambhasi = waters of the ocean; prāpya saṁjñām = became conscious; cirāt = after a long time; tāta = dear Rāvaṇa; laṅkām = of Laṅkā; prati = to; gataḥ = and then went; purīm = the city.
Dear Rāvaṇa, thrown into the deep waters of the ocean by Him at that time, I became conscious after a long time and then went to the city of Laṅkā.
