Chapter 40: Rāvaṇa Criticizes Mārīca
Text 3.40.21
तत्छ्रुत्वा रामपदवीं सीतया च प्रचोदितः।
अनुगच्छति सम्भ्रान्तः सौमित्रिरपि सौहृदात्॥
tat chrutvā rāma-padavīṁ sītayā ca pracoditaḥ
anugacchati sambhrāntaḥ saumitrir api sauhṛdāt
tat = that [cry]; śrutvā = hearing; rāma-padavīm = Rāma’s path; sītayā = by Sītā; ca = and; pracoditaḥ = being impelled; anugacchati = will follow; sambhrāntaḥ = in bewilderment; saumitriḥ = Saumitri; api = also; sauhṛdāt = out of affection [for Him].
Hearing that [cry] and being impelled by Sītā, Saumitri will also follow Rāma’s path in bewilderment out of affection [for Him].
