Chapter 42: Mārīca Becomes an Enchanting Deer
Text 3.42.5
प्रहृष्टस्त्वभवत्तेन वचनेन स रावणः।
परिष्वज्य सुसंश्लिष्टमिदं वचनमब्रवीत्॥
prahṛṣṭas tv abhavat tena vacanena sa rāvaṇaḥ
pariṣvajya susaṁśliṣṭam idaṁ vacanam abravīt
prahṛṣṭaḥ tu = delighted; abhavat = became; tena = with these; vacanena = words [of Mārīca]; saḥ rāvaṇaḥ = Rāvaṇa; pariṣvajya = embraced [him]; susaṁśliṣṭam = he firmly; idam = the following; vacanam = words; abravīt = and spoke.
Rāvaṇa became delighted with these words [of Mārīca]. He firmly embraced [him] and spoke the following words.
