Chapter 42: Mārīca Becomes an Enchanting Deer
Text 3.42.10
तथैव तत्र पश्यन्तौ पत्तनानि वनानि च।
गिरींश्च सरितः सर्वा राष्ट्राणि नगराणि च॥
tathaiva tatra paśyantau pattanāni vanāni ca
girīṁś ca saritaḥ sarvā rāṣṭrāṇi nagarāṇi ca
tathā eva tatra = from there; paśyantau = they saw; pattanāni = towns; vanāni ca = forests; girīn ca = mountains; saritaḥ sarvāḥ = all the rivers; rāṣṭrāṇi = countries; nagarāṇi = cities; ca = and.
From there they saw towns, forests, mountains, all the rivers, countries and cities.1
1 Rāmāyaṇa-bhūṣaṇa: tathaiva ratha-rūḍhāv eva. sahaiva sthitāv ity arthaḥ.
“From there” indicates that both of them were standing on the chariot.
