Chapter 42: Mārīca Becomes an Enchanting Deer
Text 3.42.16
रक्तपद्मोत्पलमुख इन्द्रनीलोत्पलश्रवाः।
किंचिदभ्युन्नतग्रीव इन्द्रनीलदलाधरः॥
rakta-padmotpala-mukha indranīlotpala-śravāḥ
kiñcid-abhyunnata-grīva indranīla-dalādharaḥ
rakta-padma-utpala-mukhaḥ = its mouth resembled red and blue lotuses; indranīla-utpala-śravāḥ = its ears resembled a sapphire and a blue lotus; kiñcit-abhyunnata-grīvaḥ = its neck slightly projected upwards; indranīla-dala-adharaḥ = and its lips resembled fragments of sapphire.
Its mouth resembled red and blue lotuses. Its ears resembled a sapphire and a blue lotus. Its neck slightly projected upwards and its lips resembled fragments of sapphire.
A part of its mouth had the color of a red lotus and the other part had the color of a blue lotus. Its ears resembled a sapphire in that they were blue in complexion; they resembled the blue lotus in their appearance.
