Chapter 42: Mārīca Becomes an Enchanting Deer
Text 3.42.23
राजीवचित्रपृष्ठः स विरराज महामृगः।
रामाश्रमपदाभ्याशे विचचार यथासुखम्॥
rājīva-citra-pṛṣṭhaḥ sa virarāja mahā-mṛgaḥ
rāmāśrama-padābhyāśe vicacāra yathā-sukham
rājīva-citra-pṛṣṭhaḥ = with an astonishing hindside that resembled the filaments of a red lotus; saḥ = that; virarāja = shone; mahā-mṛgaḥ = large deer; rāma-āśrama-pada-abhyāśe = near Rāma’s āśrama; vicacāra = and he moved about; yathā-sukham = happily.
That large deer shone with an astonishing hindside that resembled the filaments of a red lotus and he happily moved about near Rāma’s āśrama.
