Chapter 42: Mārīca Becomes an Enchanting Deer
Text 3.42.32
सा तं रुचिरदन्तोष्ठी रूप्यधातुतनूरुहम्।
विस्मयोत्फुल्लनयना सस्नेहं समुदैक्षत॥
sā taṁ rucira-dantoṣṭhī rūpya-dhātu-tanūruham
vismayotphulla-nayanā sasnehaṁ samudaikṣata
sā = she; tam = at the deer; rucira-danta-oṣṭhī = her teeth and lips were bright; rūpya-dhātu-tanūruham = whose bodily hair shone like silver, copper and other minerals 3; vismaya-utphulla-nayanā = her eyes bloomed with astonishment; sa-sneham = affectionately; samudaikṣata = looked.
Her teeth and lips were bright. Her eyes bloomed with astonishment. She affectionately looked at the deer whose bodily hair shone like silver, copper and other minerals.
“Her teeth and lips were bright” indicates that she looked curious.
