Canto 3 -
Araṇya-kāṇḍa
Chapter 43: Sītā Sees the Magical Deer
Text 3.43.15
अहो रूपमहो लक्ष्मीः स्वरसंपच्च शोभना।
मृगोऽद्भुतो विचित्राङ्गो हृदयं हरतीव मे॥
aho rūpam aho lakṣmīḥ svara-sampac ca śobhanā
mṛgo ’dbhuto vicitrāṅgo hṛdayaṁ haratīva me
aho = ah; rūpam = its complexion; aho = ah; lakṣmīḥ = its effulgence; svara-sampat = the prosperity of its melodies; ca = and; śobhanā = beauty; mṛgaḥ = deer; adbhutaḥ = this wonderful; vicitra-aṅgaḥ = with a beautiful body; hṛdayam = mind; harati iva = seems to attract; me = my.
Ah, its complexion! Ah, its effulgence, the prosperity of its melodies and beauty! This wonderful deer with a beautiful body seems to attract my mind!
The second half of this verse repeats [what has been stated earlier] and states that the deer was charming. Therefore it is not devoid of significance.
